Cosmetic Bonding vs. Porcelain Veneers

Posted on November 27th, 2013 by

Both cosmetic bonding and veneers have similar uses, but there are distinct differences between them.  The most important difference is in relation to the total time of the procedure.  Slight differences are also apparent.
Cosmetic Bonding Cosmetic bonding is a very popular procedure that can enhance your smile and get rid of simple defects on an individual tooth or multiple teeth.  A substance is bonded to existing teeth to achieve altered but improved tooth shape.  Typically this procedure is used when there is discoloration in teeth, gaps between teeth, or misshapen teeth.  The procedure also protects teeth that are starting to decay and wear down. Cosmetic bonding is almost always completed in one office visit.  Each tooth usually takes between 30-60 minutes and all of the preparatory work is done in that same office visit. Also, because there is less prep work, more of your enamel stays intact.Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers consist of customized pieces of porcelain that are placed over the existing teeth to enhance your smile. Much like bonding they can be used to treat numerous issues, such as unwanted stains, gaps between teeth, or chipped teeth.  One of the most significant differences between veneers and bonding is the amount of time spent in your dentists office. Because this is such a precise procedure it takes multiple visits to be completed. On your first visit, the dentist takes molds of your teeth to get the exact fit and look you want.  You are then given temporary veneers until the permanent ones are made in a laboratory.  This usually takes around 2 weeks. Your second visit consists of fitting the custom veneers to the front of your teeth.  Then you have a beautiful smile to be proud of and to show off to the world. No better time than the holiday season to fix your smile, or to give someone the gift of a smile they’ve always wanted. Call us to learn more today!Courtesy of Dentistry.com http://www.dentistry.com

I was a little hesitant to come here after reading some reviews on Yelp but decided to give it a try after being reassured by Millie (who is really sweet and pleasant) over the phone, and I'm really happy I did. The office is beautiful, modern, and clean, something that really makes a difference for me going to the dentist. They were very prompt, I didn't have
to wait long to see the dentist.

I was blown away by the warm energy that radiated from the staff. They made sure that I understood everything and knew what the cost would be before we moved forward. Each person took the time to sit with me and explain the process. These people clearly love their job, their co-workers, and have a passion for assisting their clients with their dental health.
