Teeth As White As Snow
Low temperatures come with a high number of hazards for your mouth. Winter conditions can be tough on your teeth, lips, and gums, so it’s important to be mindful of your oral hygiene habits during the cold winter months. Take our tips for oral health this winter, and you’ll walk into spring with teeth as white as snow!
Hydrate
We can’t stress it enough—stay hydrated this winter! Drinking enough water often falls by the wayside when it gets cold outside, because we usually associate drinking water with cooling ourselves down in the heat. But what happens all-too-often is people forget about how much water they need in the winter, which can lead to issues. Dehydration can lead to dry, chapped lips that so many of us experience when temperatures drop.
Address Sensitivity
When it gets cold outside, your teeth might be the first to feel it. Sensitivity to extreme temperatures is usually a sign that something is wrong. A couple of things you can do to address tooth sensitivity are using sensitive toothpaste to ease the pain and scheduling an appointment with us at Art of Modern Dentistry to diagnose the cause of the sensitivity
Brush, Floss, Repeat
Winter often means desserts, warm sugary drinks, and lots of other holiday treats! That means your teeth are coming into contact with a lot of sugar. It’s especially important during the winter to make sure you’re brushing and flossing regularly to mitigate all the sugar you consume. Of course, the best thing you can do is avoid sugary drinks and snacks, but if you just can’t resist—make sure to brush and floss after eating and schedule an appointment with Art of Modern Dentistry this winter!
