Taking Care of Your Invisalign Trays
Visiting our Lakeview dentist for our Invisalign services is a great way to subtly achieve a straighter smile. Through a series of removable, clear aligners, you’ll see your smile transform right before your eyes. Taking care of your Invisalign trays is an important step in ensuring your treatment is effective and sanitary. Here are some dos and don’ts that you should keep in mind if you have Invisalign.
What You Should Do:
Because your trays will be in your mouth at all times besides eating, you’ll want to make sure that they are kept clean and odor-free. Rinse and soak your aligners with denture cleaner or the official Invisalign cleaning crystals to keep bacteria to a minimum. If bacteria build up, your trays will begin to smell. You can gently brush your trays but be careful not to brush too aggressively as it may cause scratches or etchings.
What You Shouldn’t Do:
Don’t eat or drink anything while your trays are in. Anything besides water might stain your trays or cause them to develop a smell. Our Lakeview dentist also recommends not using toothpaste to clean your trays because they can dull your aligners due to abrasive chemicals. While you are eating, don’t leave your trays exposed; rather, wrap them in a secure paper towel and rinse them before putting them back into your mouth.
