Bad Breath
Often referred to as halitosis, bad breath can be an embarrassing condition to have. Certain foods, tobacco, alcohol, and some medications can cause bad breath. In most cases however, chronic halitosis can be caused by bacteria on the tongue or an infection in the gums. These bacteria found between the teeth and in the fissures of the tongue create waste products known as volatile sulfur compounds (VSC). These compounds are responsible for the rotten egg smell associated with bad breath. By simply brushing the teeth and tongue, using a tongue scraper, and a special mouth rinse these odors can be eliminated.
There are treatments for whatever type of bad breath you have. The dentists at Art of Modern Dentistry recommend the Breath Rx system. This system has three easy steps.
Step 1
Brush your teeth with a specially formulated toothpaste containing Xylitol® and Zytex®. Xylitol® is a compound that helps to stimulate saliva production and helps to fight off cavities. Zytex® is a compound that kills the bacteria that produce VSCs and helps to neutralize the VSC into odorless compounds.
Step 2
Clean the tongue using a specially designed tongue cleaner and tongue spray. This is an important step because a majority of the food the bacteria consume gets trapped in the grooves on the tongue. This specially formulated spray helps to loosen the food particles while the cleaner gently removes them.
Step 3
Rinse your mouth with the Breath Rx mouthwash designed to kill the VSC producing bacteria. In a clinical trial Breath Rx was tested against 2 other leading mouthwashes and after four weeks of continued use the leading brands failed to improve bad breath. Breath Rx on the other hand showed a significant reduction in odor. If you would like more information on this study please click on the link below.
